Fishers of Men

"The same thing that marks every aspect of Jesus' life was a driving sense of cause. "THIS is who I am, THIS is what I do, THIS is where I am going....and why don't you come too?" He was a man on a mission. That's what swept strong men along in His wake. That's what persuaded them in a heart beat to drop their fishing nets or hammers or ledgers or whatever else they were doing and follow HIm. Suddenly whatever had preoccupied them seemed pallid and tame and slightly irrelevant. The Man who called them was a burning Reality, A Great Light, How could they help but saddle up and trail along?
A real man knows where he is going."

This is a paragraph in the book Tender Warrior by Stu Weber. This paragraph changed my husbands life. This doesn't just mean men, if your a disciple of Christ you have purpose. We must find the purpose outside ourselves, our purpose is found in Him.

Once my husband showed me this paragraph it is really motivating! It shows that Jesus was confident and a leader. When we carry those same traits that Jesus had we can get others to follow Christ.

Matthew 4:18-22
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." At once they left their nets and followed him.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, praying their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

At once and immediately is the words they described to how the disciples responded to Jesus' request. This is how I want to be. This is how we should be, it shows that they were not worried about what they were leaving, they knew their heavenly father would take care of them. I want faith like that, obedience like that.

Matthew 8:1
When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.

People flocked around Jesus, he has that presence where he goes. We have that ability to carry the Spirit where we go that can draw others to us so we can lead them to God.

Our purpose as Christians is to do that! God can do that through us in MANY different ways!! So don't look at other people, look to God and he will lead you.
